THRIVE REGION, 2022 - 2023
Juno (aka Tanqueray Harper) is a Wolf Trap Teaching Artist, fire performer, and multi-passionate artist whose engagement with the community now spans across creative and educational pursuits. Juno is also a photographer and founder of True Capture Studios, a mission-based documentation company that aims to capture community engagement projects and creative collaborations through photography and videography. Their work celebrates neurodiversity and encourages an interdisciplinary approach to learning and self expression.
Juno engaged with the Dalton community by attending local events organized by her Social Impact Initiative Creative Arts Guild. She interviewed community members and took photographs that captured the beauty of the region, the spirit of its people, and the history of Dalton. Juno’s AAW term culminated in an immersive mixed media exhibit featuring photos and video documenting her experiences on the Conasauga River. Exploring themes of conservation, community, and legacy through the lens of joy and stewardship, Juno aims to connect people with their natural resources and celebrate the efforts of the community to secure its sustainability for generations to come.

ArtsBuild’s mission is to build a stronger community through the arts. Since 1969, ArtsBuild has served as a catalyst for the arts in our community, investing more than $76 million in arts organizations, arts programs, and arts education. In 2020 alone, ArtsBuild infused $1.4 million into the local arts sector. Everything ArtsBuild does is focused on creating access to the arts. The organization does this through grant-making, arts education initiatives, and arts advocacy.
ArtsBuild serves as a champion for the arts. It aims to showcase the collective impact the arts have on its community, as well as the many ways that the arts improve our quality of life. As a hub for the arts in Chattanooga and Hamilton County, ArtsBuild leads and participates in community-wide discussions and strategies about how to cultivate support for the arts in education, local economy, and tourism. In 2021, ArtsBuild was a finalist for the United Way of Greater Chattanooga “Nonprofit of the Year” award.

SOCIAL IMPACT INITIATIVE
Founded in 1963, the Creative Arts Guild is the oldest community multi-discilinary arts organization in the sate of Georgia. The mission of the Creative Arts Guild is to cultivate and sustain the arts in Dalton, Georgia and its surrounding counties. We do this by: providing education in the arts; showcasing art and culture through events, exhibits, and performances; providing support for established artists and nurturing emerging artists; supporting public art/maintaining the Robert T. Webb Sculpture Garden; and emphasizing the importance of early and lifelong arts exposure. In all our endeavors, seeking to make the creative arts relevant, accessible, and enjoyable. Creative Arts Guild offers 4 educational departments in the disciplines of dance, visual arts, music and culinary arts, operates gallery spaces that features regional artists, is home to the largest permanent collection sculpture garden in the state of Georgia, hosts many concerts, performances and community events featuring the arts such as our annual FESTIVAL of Fine Arts and Crafts and our annual ballet, The Snow Queen, performed with a live chamber orchestra, hosts an annual arts educators conference, serves as the community's arts and culture partner providing leadership to our outdoor summer music and performing arts series and many public arts projects, partners with the local hospital to provide an arts and healing program and offers arts outreach through schools and in our underserved community. In all of our arts programs and arts offerings, the Creative Arts Guild strives to provide high quality arts experiences that rival that of a much larger city.
